Afternoon Program

The Afternoon Program at Chippewa Valley High School is a limited school day program that takes place at CVHS from 2:00 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. Because this program meets for only an hour and 20 minutes per day, students are usually placed in this program for only a short period of time and for very specific reasons. Below are some of the typical uses for the Afternoon Program.

  • Year 13 Students (students who did not meet the requirements for a diploma on time). These students enroll at CVHS and continue to earn credits needed for a diploma. Most of the work is done outside of school and the students meet with teachers from 2:00-3:20 to take tests, get more work, and ask questions.
  • Students in Transition. At times students who are transitioning in or out of the Chippewa Falls School District are placed in the Afternoon Program for a relatively short period of time.
  • 18 year-old Students. Some 18 year-old students who have conflicts with the normal school day may have an opportunity to enroll in the Afternoon Program to continue working towards their diploma.

The curriculum used for the Afternoon Program is usually self-paced independent study materials that the students can work through with a minimum of assistance from a teacher.

Referral to the Afternoon Program always comes from school staff. Because of the minimal school time associated with the Afternoon Program, parents and/or students cannot choose the Afternoon Program as an educational placement.
