The Pringles Project
This science-based lab allows CFMS 7th graders to actually be an engineer in a science-related field. They were required to design a package that protects a single Pringles potato chip as it travels through the U.S. mailing system. The Pringles traveled from one of three cities: Duluth, Green Bay, or Madison. As a result, students learned about the U.S. mailing system, how to properly prepare a package, the scientific method, and the physics of package design.

Transition Program Supports Students
Where Everybody Belongs, referred to as WEB, is a transition program that began at Chippewa Falls Middle School during the 2010-2011 school year. At CFMS, three staff members work with 60+ eighth grade students each year to develop them into mentors and leaders at the middle school. Each year, the first day of school is referred to as WEB day. On WEB day the sixth grade class attends school with their eighth grade mentors and the middle school staff to provide the sixth graders with a full day orientation to support the transition into the middle school. WEAU TV 13 news visited CFMS to find out more about our wonderful WEB program.

Safety comes First
Chippewa Falls Middle School takes safety serious. With the exception of runners, students who participate in extra-curricular sports must take part in Impact testing. Impact testing is completed to get a baseline of neurological functioning for each individual. This test is then revisited if and when a student-athelete obtains a concussion. Trained staff is able to compare baseline results to post concussion results to determine if and when student-athletes are able to return to sports related activities. WEAU TV 13 visited CFMS for a report.

Football Teams Doing Good for the Community
Mr. Britton and the Chippewa Falls Middle School football teams were inspired by a young man named Mason Zimmerman, who is battling cancer. This young man also happens to be the grandson of Pat Clifton, a photographer who has taken our student photos for many years. To help support Mason and others fighting cancer, the football teams rallied together and raised $331 dollars that they donated to the American Cancer Society. As the American Cancer Society representative stated, this money will go to help many battling cancer to celebrate another birthday. Please take a minute to look at the link below. We are very proud of Mr. Britton and our student athletes for their actions!

RCU SCHOOL $ENSE
A reminder that RCU School $ense is open on Fridays during lunches in the Commons. We have great prizes for every 4th or 8th deposit. We have gift cards for Action City, Coldstone, McDonalds and Dairy Queen, plus other great prizes. The gift cards are prize choices for every 8th deposit. We encourage students and staff to make deposits, which will help our student "employees" gets experience processing transactions and to practice what they have learned. We have been averaging about 20 transactions. RCU will donate to the Student Council to assist them with putting on a dance for the students when we reach our goal. Please encourage your students to get involved in saving for their future by making a deposit each Friday at lunch. If you have questions on how to start an account or about the School $ense program; please feel free to e-mail us at sarah.lea@rcu.org.
