Happy Spring Parkview Families~

The weather has certainly been strange this spring. The cold just won’t loosen its grip on us, but we continue to push on through the end of the year!

May has been an exciting month at Parkview. Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Early in the month we held Kindergarten Registration. It was exciting to see our new students and their families come in and learn about what life is like at Parkview.
  • We had Staff Appreciation Week early in the month. PTO coordinated many events to recognize the hard work done by staff. Thank you to all who contributed to making our staff feel special.
  • Some of our Special Education students participated in Special Kids Day. Unfortunately the weather prevented us from going to Wissota State Park, but the fairgrounds next door worked out great! It was a blast.
  • Our Safety Patrollers attended their annual trip to Wisconsin Dells. It was a fun-filled day with many, many activities. They also had a blast!
  • Circle of Friends celebrated another successful year with the Circle Walk at the end of the month. We were able to raise $640 which will go toward purchasing t-shirts, games and other supplies for next year. Thank you to all who contributed!
  • Our Family Picnic sponsored by the PTO was a great success! We had many things going on throughout the evening – clowning students performing, a book fair, a Schwan’s fundraiser and music.

Looking ahead to June and the end of the school year, we have many things going on before heading off for summer break.

  • Thursday, June 6th we will hold our 5th grade graduation to celebrate their elementary years. The graduation will run from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Parkview Gym.
  • On Friday, June 7th we will be having a PBIS All School Carnival to celebrate our good behavior throughout the year. Our students are very excited about the time they will get to spend playing carnival games!
  • Finally, on our last day, Tuesday, June 11th, students will be at school for half of the day. We have an awards ceremony at 9:00 a.m. and busses will be arriving to take students home at 11:00 a.m.

Summer school begins on Monday, June 17th at 8:00 a.m. for those attending. Our office staff will be around until Friday, June 14th if you need anything. After that, please contact Central Office at (715) 738-2660. The 2013-2014 school year will resume on Tuesday, September 3rd with ‘Getting to Know You Conferences’. More information will be sent out in August.

That being said, I would like to share some exciting personal news. My husband, Jeremy and I are expecting a baby at the end of August. I would really like to be able to start the year before she gets here, but I don’t think I have much say in that! I plan to take eight weeks off for maternity leave, but I am leaving Parkview in good hands. Retired Halmstad principal Beth Schultz will be taking my place in addition to the amazing staff who will pitch in to make sure things run smoothly. Please continue to contact the office when you need to and I look forward to seeing you at the beginning of November (or maybe on the first day if she cooperates!)

Have a safe and wonderful summer!

Mrs. Hoyt
