Yes, I feel that technology has affected how active some people are. Some people, like that one kid in the video, just want to sit on their computer all day and play game. Those people are having fun on their game and might think going outside will be boring. Some people on the other hand know when to put the technology away and go outside. |

Has technology affected how active we are? How much time do you spend playing sports or just being active? Is the desire lost to do things other than go on facebook or playing video games?
Yes, I believe that technology has effected the how active SOME people are. But just because some people would rather sit inside and play video games or just sit on their phone on a nice day doesn't mean everyone is like that. I go to practice every night and sometimes go to the gym after practice, in the summer I go out kayaking or do something outside. I feel like technology only gets to you if you allow it too. |

I think that technology is making it easier to be more active. Have you noticed the new FitBit craze, or have you ever heard two people discussing how many steps or how far they have walked in a day. Technology is making it easier to be able to find a workout online, track progress, or even track heart rate. These days people can look up a workout and do a short one if they don't have much time on their hands. It is easy to go on Instagram and find a healthy lifestyle page, or motivational pages to get people active. But on the downside, there are also a lot of people that would rather play video games than go outside, or go to the gym perhaps. I think there are two sides to this issue, but probably more positives than negatives. |

Technology has not affected how active I am one bit. Every day I go lift in the morning before school and after school I either play hockey or go to work. I am a very active person and technology has never made me want to be lazy. I will always be an active person and technology will never change that. |

I think that technology has really affected our community with the amount of fitness people actually do. With people not being motivated at all to want to be active or look physically fit, they often find themselves distracted by other things around them such as their phones or computers because it doesn't take any energy to sit and play on your phone. I am very active i am usually playing sports or lifting after school. |

Yes, before technology when kids got bored they found something to do which most of the time included doing something active but now when kids get bored they grab their phone or computer and just sit there. Instead of running over to the neighbors house they can just text them instead.

Has technology affected how active we are? How much time do you spend playing sports or just being active? Is the desire lost to do things other than go on facebook or playing video games?
Technology has definitely affected how active we are. Kids now are spending time inside on the couch playing games and not going outside and running or playing. I spend lots of time outside playing with my younger siblings. I think for many people the feeling to be lazy is greater than the feeling to get outside and be naturally human. |

I mean for me no I'm still active and technology doesn't get in the way of me practicing a sport or lifting. I spend a couple hours a day on being active, at least. And considering I don't play videogames it really isn't a distraction for me.

I think technology is a good thing but I think we abuse it by using it too much and not going outside, so technology had definitely affected how active we are in a large way. I spend about 2-3 hours on week nights but on the weekends its closer to a good 5-6 hours. I don't have the desire to go on facebook or videogames but people who dont go outside and be active they will have the desire to get on those things. |

I do believe that while students are less active, there will never be a total loss of activity. Sports are still a huge part of a lot of kids lives, and that doesn't typically change with a phone in their back pocket. The desire may be lost a little, but I still think that kids, if in a sport, are still active. |

I don't feel like children and adolescents aren't as active as 50 years ago. I am not even active. Does this change in society is another leading cause to obesity? |

I don't believe this question really needs asking, in fact, we'll never know if we are actually "active" enough in this very short life we all have. |

Has technology affected how active we are? How much time do you spend playing sports or just being active? Is the desire lost to do things other than go on facebook or playing video games?
Technology has definitely affected how active we are. Yes, there are new technological advances that include activity tracking and such but a lot of people spend most of their time inside, many times on electronics like watching T.V. or going on their phones. Even when we go outside, we still are often on our phones which is highly distracting us from the beautiful nature of the outdoors. I typically spend about at least 10 hours in a seven day week being active/playing sports. To me, the desire is not lost to do other things than facebook or games. I highly enjoy things such as fishing, hunting, swimming, and just being outdoors in general. It shouldn't be that difficult to put down a phone and go outside. |

ive never been the most active of people and i never will be, but i dont think the internet really influences that too much. id rather take a nap or draw than go for a walk. im just a lazy person by nature. doing things outside isnt as worse as a lot of things but id much rather be inside reading, or even doing homework. im not too much of an outdoorsy person unless its camping or fishing. |

Kids are a lot less active, it's true. Games and technology have taken that away from us, but it doesn't mean kids don't still enjoy it. The truth is that it's up to the parents to make it more fun and make it more of a thing with their kids.I'm not saying it's completely a parent's fault but if a parent were to step in and take their kids out more, and do more family things a child could enjoy that just as much and create a balance between both electronic fun and active fun. But this still doesn't guarantee the prevention of Internet Addiction, but it is a start. |

I feel that their are lots of ways that technology has gotten us more active. Like having fitbits and Garmin activity trackers. Many kids go out and play and then are rewarded but that by using these types of tech for being active. So if anything we haven't gotten any lazier nor any more active with the use of technology. |
Taylor 05/03/17 9:48 AM |
We are told to be active as much as we can a day. Yet when we go to out schools or even a friends house you see that technology surrounds our lives. Instead of playing a sport we play games like World of Warcraft or even Color switch on out electronic devices. We carry our phones on us every second of the day and pull them out to check the time or notifications. The more frequently we check our devices the more we tend to get sidetracked with a game or social media. We have to take time out of our day to keep snap streaks and friendships online but we don't go out and do something. I personally love to go out with my friends walking or skating but half the time I see them Sitting on their phones talking to others that are not right there face to face. Most people in this generation would rather sit at home in front of a screen rather than get up and be active. Todays generation is not active enough nor communicating enough face to face with the outside world that we live in. Technology does give us a gain but it changes our approach and outlook on like so we change how we live to surround it. Todays teens especially could be more active. |

Technology ha made us less active because of all the amazing things we can do inside, with air conditioning, and with friends. I spend about 2 or 3 hours a day being active and outside. The desire is sill there to do other things than go on computers and play games, although you have to find what you like ding best outside so it is actually fun. |
