Scholarships

In most cases, students must apply for specific scholarships. A limited number of colleges award scholarships based on all or part of a student's application for admission. Students should take advantage of every opportunity to apply for scholarships in which they meet the criteria. Scholarship applications can be lengthy to complete, but if you are willing to put in the time, the payoff can be a tremendous help.

Chi-Hi Student Services posts scholarships that we receive from organizations. This includes national, state and local offerings. *Click here for Chi-Hi Scholarship Postings*

  • Letter of Recommendation Form (give to letter writer)
  • CF Foundation Scholarships (scholarships designated for Chi-Hi Students)

Students should treat scholarship applications as professional documents.

  • Be sure to read directions carefully
  • Complete all sections of the application
  • Deadlines matter
  • Take your time and put thought into the application
  • Review your application and have someone proofread it for you
  • If you fill out the application by hand, make sure your writing is legible and neat

Letters of Recommendation
Most scholarships require that students submit letters of recommendation with their application.  Student Services has a form that students can complete and give to those they are asking for a recommendation.  It will give them information about you that they otherwise might not know. They can then tailer the letter to your needs. Some tips for Letters of Recommendations:

  • Ask those that know you well. Letters of recommendation with a personal touch are more impactful.
  • Ask that the writer save the letter electronically as you may need to personalize the letter for specific scholarships.
  • Ask for more letters than you need. This way you can choose the ones that best meet the scholarship criteria.
  • Allow the writer two weeks. If you ask for a recommendation that you need in a day or two, chances are that you will either be to no, or be given a less personalized recommendation.
  • It is important to thank your letter writer personally or with a note.
