People tend to communicate a lot more with people they most likely never would have met or at least talked to in person, if it wasn't for social media. I think that its easier to say something to someone through the phone because there are so many variables that can numb it down and make it "easier." However, this can cause the recipient to feel less because it isn't always personalized with a tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures, ect. This tends to lead to a lot more assumptions or feeling less valued or feels too simple. However you can improve your communication as well. People leave their comfort zone when they call a business, talk to someone new, etc. It can be a good thing as well. |

This is one of they many benefits of social media and technology. It is far easier to communicate with somebody than say twenty or thirty years ago. If you wanna make plans with a friend, you can from a text, call, face time, snap, you name it. Also in the event of an emergency, help is three numbers away, or in some cases, you can tap a commonly used button or hold a button on your phone in a certain pattern to alert the police. |

I think I can communicate with people just fine and I am just as comfortable saying things to people in person as I am over text. I get that it is not the same for everyone else but I feel that my communication skills are just as well as someone who would not have had all this technology. |

I agree that social media has impaired our ability to communicate face to face. Today all we do is text behind a screen, and, although great at keeping people connected, has progressively taken confidence from the youth of today in person. Most people even refuse to video chat because texting is "easier" or "less awkward." In reality, if you were to chat more often face to face, there would be less awkward moments. It's just a fact, but people aren't willing to do that anymore. |

I agree that sometimes techology does cause less face to face communication, but face to face communication isn't always an option. People from different coutries aren't going to be able to meet for lunch and things like videochat or instant messaging make communication between poeple a lot easier. Even people who live closer together benefit from technology. You aren't always going to be with your family or best friends and sending a quick text to ask a question can clear up a lot of confusion. |

With the advent of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and the popularity of texting and Snapchat, some experts say that we have lost the ability to socialize face to face. Do you agree that technology has hurt our ability to communicate or has it made us better communicators? |
