I think that the idea of erasing memories to get rid of drug addiction, if it came into the mainstream, would make it almost too easy for addicts. I can just imagine some people who would think "oh, well, I can do drugs because they can just erase my addiction from my mind, no big deal." It would almost make taking drugs more appealing

Despite their implementation of drug use for therapy, scientists are looking to a bright, addiction free world with their next grand idea. These men and women are determined to erase drug addiction for good. Perhaps, though, they have taken the erasing part a bit too far. Instead of working with patients to, once again, accept their past, scientists are proposing that it is best to simply get rid of the past. The days of therapy and using our mistakes as educational devices are gone. Why not just wave a wand and clean your slate? Really, no problems there at all. Except that point about taking away the very things that make someone who they are and taking the experiences that humans need to have stored in their minds in order to advance. But, besides the whole taking the ‘human’ out of ‘humanity’ thing, this idea is simply miraculous.
