***Student Responsibilities***
1. Students will be expected to complete work on time and will be given adequate amount of time to do most assignments in class.
2. Students will be expected to be safe, respectful, and responsible in the classroom, playground, lunchroom, as well as all other areas of school. Students will be retaught expectations throughout the year. All expectations are posted throughout the school as well.
3. Students must bring their Take Home Folders and Assignment Notebooks to school each day. Students are required to get a parent signature in their Assignment Notebooks each evening.
4. I expect my students to read 5-6 times a week for at least 15 minutes. Use our monthly reading challenges to make things interesting.
5. It is the student’s responsibility to return library books on time.
***Grading Scale***
3=Meeting end of grade level expectations

****Parent Responsibilities ****
1. Supervise homework and sign the assignment notebook everyday.
2. Make sure your child reads at least 15 minutes each night and completes the Monthly Reading Challenge. Parent initials and/or signatures are useful on reading challenge sheets. Simply reading is very important if you want to help your child be a good reader.
3. Help your child study their math facts.
4. Ask your child about school everyday. Reading the weekly newsletter will help you have a discussion starting point. Look over any papers that have been brought home in their folder. Discuss school in a positive manner. It will help encourage your child and help them have a good attitude toward learning and school.
5. Please send all money in an envelope. On the outside of the envelope write your child’s name, the amount, and what the money is for.
6. When sending checks for book orders, please make checks payable to Scholastic.
7. Help your child establish a nightly homework routine. Set aside a certain place and time for schoolwork every evening. This will build good study habits and should help reduce arguments.
8. Please teach your child to be responsible for cleaning out his/her backpack and Take Home folder every night. You can assist or supervise, but it should be the child’s responsibility. After all, your child is the one who should know which papers need to be returned to school.
9. I do check the Assignment Notebooks every morning. The notebooks have a place for parent messages so feel free to use that space to communicate.
